ElasticHosts and VNS3

Success in the cloud is dependent on a solid network strategy. The concept of moving applications and compute resources to a 3rd party controlled environment is not new. The same network techniques and controls apply in virtualized environments as they do in physical environments.

VNS3 delivers cloud networking and network function virtualization (NFV) for virtual and cloud environments. The VNS3 virtual network security appliance includes a router, switch, stateful firewall, VPN support (IPsec and SSL), and protocol redistributor optimized for the ElasticHosts cloud. VNS3 cloud networks are configured and managed through the VNS3 Manager web-based UI or resetful API.

VNS3 provides encryption of all data-in-motion in the cloud and between the cloud and your network edge. Create a custom VNS3 network which you overlay on top of the physical/native network so you have control over your application and user connectivity. Unique and customer controlled X.509 credentials with key selectable key lengths ensure your cloud communications are for your application’s eyes only.

VNS3 integrates with ElasticHosts’ VLAN isolation features as well as integrating with their latest Elastic Containers offering. ElasticHosts VLAN is very different from most cloud implementation but it is incredibly flexible. Very simply each server launched in ElasticHosts has a public IP on eth0 and a private VLAN IP on eth1. The VLAN is set on the local configuration of the instances and can be modified on-demand. VNS3 for ElasticHosts is specially designed to integrate with this VLAN feature via a Web UI control. As a result VNS3 can be used as an Internet Gateway, sitting at a private VLAN edge, providing NAT-ing and port forwarding for the other devices in the private VLAN. Additionally ElasticHosts Elastic Containers can be joined to the VNS3 Overlay Network and CohesiveFT can provide LXC container files and pointers to help you get started.
