Datacenter Connect Architecture

AngelEye Camera Systems

Problem

AngelEye provides parents with interactive access to their babies in restrictive care, but must also ensure the data is Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliant.

Solution

AngelEye moved their camera network to AWS VPC for added security, private IP addresses and SSL connections. VNS3 helped the IT team add more connections to all hospitals through a single network controller.

Outcome

By sending sensitive data through a VNS3, AngelEye no longer has to worry about cameras on public IP addresses, open firewall rules, or data encryption at rest.

Unified Clinical Trial Software and Consulting

Problem

In order to provide their clinical trial software platform Customer traditionally used multicast. UDP multicast is disabled in most public clouds, including AWS.

Solution

Customer created two VNS3 environments in Amazon: one for staging, and one for production. VNS3 also re-enabled UDP multicast between the two environments inside AWS.

Outcome

Now Customer uses VNS3 to connect their AWS-based cluster and use multicast to find and monitor the members of the cluster.

Electronic Health Records for iPad

Problem

A provider of EHR (Electronic Health Records) as-a-Service needed to be able to connect to doctors’ offices and medical clinics in order to provide services. While the end-user application, for doctors and nurses, can be accessed over the Internet, the integration with ‘practice’ or ‘clinic’ infrastructure presented different challenges.

Solution

VNS3 was used to provide “practice to cloud” connectivity infrastructure allowing Customer’s EHR offering to be integrated with its many customers.

Outcome

Customer was able to more quickly and easily connect its customer to its cloud-based services.

Healthcare and Point-of-Care Solutions

Problem

Customer needed a centralized VPN service for all customer applications that is also HIPAA compliant.

Solution

VNS3 provided a mix of dedicated and shared secure overlay networks, based on the needs of each end customer. Customer used VNS3 high availability features to ensure seamless recovery without Customer’s intervention. Each end customer had a dedicated tunnel to the VNS3 Controllers and additional VNS3 firewall protection for each end customer’s traffic.

Outcome

Previously, with other VPN solutions, Customer could not recover a VPN without a customer intervention and increased down time after an EC2 instance failed or an elastic IP was released. VNS3 now enabled seamless recovery without intervention.

HIPAA Compliant Apps for Hospitals

Problem

In order to deliver their secure, web-based applications for hospitals and retail pharmacies Customer needed to ensure connectivity for customers connecting to AWS-based resources.

Solution

With each new hospital and pharmacy, Customer uses VNS3 to connect their new customers over IPsec tunnels.

Outcome

Customer has successfully connected over 15 new end customers around the country using VNS3, including major research hospitals and medical centers.

Managed Health Care Preferred Provider

Problem

Customer wanted to integrate multiple existing data centers to their cloud deployments to reach more healthcare management systems customers.

Solution

VNS3 created a virtual network that integrated Customer’s cloud deployments and multiple physical centers.

Electronic Medical Records System

Problem

The customer creates comprehensive, fully integrated Practice Management and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software solution for medical fields, billing services, and long-term care. Their underlying systems must be HCFA 1500, UB-04, and HIPAA-compliant with end-to-end encrypted security connections.

Solution

In order to connect their rescues to both partners and end customers, the customer uses VNS3 for multiple IPsec encrypted tunnels.

Outcome

The customer began with the VNS3:vpn edition, then a POC license, with plans to upgrade with additional endpoints and connections.
